If you release them a week before arriving here via the Cape (somewhere in the Indian Ocean on the 40th parallel, they will fly not to Australia but to their home at the BMJ (on the carrier pigeon loft on your roof I imagine) and worse still, against the prevailing Roaring Forties which will take its toll, with lots, like my computer, crashing.
Sir, both patience and prudence are needed when it comes to pigeons.
Incidentally many carrier pigeons were awarded service commendations in WW2 in your country and one Commando Unit was saved by a message from a bird at D-Day.
